I guess I'm not cut out for Tomb raider :/

When it comes to Siem reap, they only have 1 iconic tourist spot, the Angkor Wat. So through the hostel, I hired a tuk tuk driver for $12 and head for Angkor wat

Oh, but before that, breakfast! There is some sort of readjustment of expectations when it comes to breakfast. I always hope to wake up every morning to international buffet, but as usual, I had to readjust my expectations. So I has Maggie noodles with an egg for breakfast before heading out

I dun think I need to introduce Angkor wat. It was actually made famous by the Tomb raider movie, where Lara Croft did her stunts there. Since then, it has been a tourist hotspot.

Breakfast! It may be no international breakfast, but I appreciate the simplicity :)

My new driver...it's a lot quieter than the one I had in Phnom Penh

The bridge to Angkor wat

One of the many Buddha statues...the 8-hand one

Must be a v staunch Buddhist...insisting on climbing up the structure with the monks help

A couple taking wedding photos...to the best wishes of the tourists and foreigners

Angkor thom

Smiling Buddha stone face...I think there will like 50+ of them at one site

A dead and decomposed rat

I totally regretted wearing slippers to Angkor wat. I was walking around with the "piak piak piak" sound which annoyed even me. Moreover, given the uneven path, the walk is quite hard on the knees and ankle

This was a damn horrible climb. It was so steep and the steps were very narrow. The fact that I wore slippers didn't help too

So apart from the good view, this was wad awaited me at the end of the climb

My fingers were kind of burnt as I had to maintain a 3 point contact when I scale the temple

Midway up the tower, I bump into this Cambodian little girl who tried to guide me up the tower, recommending paths etc. Then she tried to sell me postcards, $5 for 10, and I told her no. But she was really quite persistent and eventually it went down to a dollar. I stood my ground and said no, and then she started on how she doesn't even have a pair of shoes. I kind of empathize with that cos my fingers were burnt just from coming in contact with the stones. But her ultimate move was that she threatened to cry...then bo bian, have to buy liao. I also met many kids, asking for sweets etc, but none of them threatened to cry

She was frowning because I didn't want to buy postcards from her...but she didn't really have shoes on her

This in an reincarnation wheel...I guess it's suppose to help one to reincarnate properly

The Angkor wat walk is actually rather trying due to the weather. Not much shade and a number of uneven steps. I had to stop for like 1.5 liters of water every hour. I went to 5-6 sites, but I was really exhausted by the third one alr. To a certain point, it all seems the same, be it 6 hours or 12 hours there

Anyway, I made a spare of glasses for $139. One usual one and a pair of shades fixed to my perception

Nice!

The trip today took a lot out of me. I'm actually v exhausted. Am thinking of just slacking around in the hostel and going for a massage tmr :/
